What can I expect from therapy?
Engaging in therapy, regardless of the modality, can be, for many, a challenging thing to do. It is therefore important that you are comfortable with the type of therapy you engage in.
At Inspiring 121 we believe that there should not be a one size fits all approach to therapy, as Carl Jung said;
‘When dealing with an individual, only an individual approach will work’
There are over four hundred different therapeutic approaches available, and it is important that you find one that works for you. The more commonly accessible forms of therapy are known as talking therapies, which entails you talking to the therapist about yourself and the issue(s) you wish to deal with.
This approach works well as long as the issues you are wanting to deal with can be articulated. Personally, I had issues to deal with which predated my ability to speak and so I did not have the words to describe them.
In my case I had to work through them using Sand Tray therapy.
At Inspiring 121 we practice a range of therapies which you can find out more about on our website.

So, what can you expect from therapy?
We are often asked to explain therapy. In our world it involves sitting with you and guiding you to explore the issue you are wishing to deal with at a pace that suits you in a safe and confidential environment.
As therapists we are not part of your family or circle of friends and acquaintances. As a result, we can be objective and help you to see the issue you wish to deal with from a perspective that will support you in obtaining a resolution to it.
Our approach is to work with you and not tell you what you should or should not do, you will likely have enough people in your life who will satisfy this role.
Our Initial Contact
Our initial contact with you is by way of a phone call or online chat where we will ask you some relevant questions which will help us understand if we are the most suitable therapists for you to work with. If we believe we are, then we will invite you to review our Client Contract and sign and return it us and contact us for a date for your first session if you wish to proceed.
If we believe that we are not the most suitable therapist for you, we will, with your permission, refer you to another practice.
If we believe we are suitable, and you make an appointment you will be invited to attend our therapy centre in Wallsend. This is a very discreet and private facility where you will begin to explore your issue(s).
Whatever modality of therapy you choose from the range we offer, we will work at your pace, and you will be in control the entire time. If we ask a question, you are not comfortable answering, we will accept that.
If, for example, you have selected to use a talking therapy and we feel that an alternative approach may suit you more, we will suggest this to you. However, the choice will be yours.
At the end of your first session, we will agree another date. You may be given homework to do between sessions. If this happens it is important that it is completed as this will form part of your therapeutic journey.

We will encourage you to reclaim your power in all aspects of your life and, if appropriate, suggest strategies that could help you do so.
During the work we will do, we may also teach you several techniques and ways of thinking that can support you in your life.
The sessions will continue and as your resolution and healing progresses, we will reach a point where, by mutual agreement we bring the work to an ecological conclusion.
At Inspiring 121 we recognise and acknowledge and respect the courage it takes to enter into therapy, and we will work hard to ensure that you obtain the outcome you desire, so long as it is ecological, and help you resource yourself to live a fulfilling life.
